Job Title: Entry-Level Application Engineer (Fiber Optics)

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Mostly Remote (Some Travel Required)

Job Summary

HFCL is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Application Engineer to support customers with the installation, testing, and application of fiber optic cable products. This role is ideal for recent engineering graduates or candidates with 0 2 years of experience who are eager to build a career in fiber optic technology. The successful candidate will receive hands-on training while working alongside experienced engineers, customers, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist customers with the installation and basic splicing of HFCL fiber optic cables.
  • Support field investigations involving cable installation and product performance.
  • Assist with cable jetting, pulling, and installation activities under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Perform basic fiber optic testing using OTDR and other testing equipment.
  • Help prepare technical reports, installation documentation, and customer training materials.
  • Participate in customer demonstrations, product evaluations, and field trials.
  • Work closely with senior engineers, sales teams, and product development teams to support customer requirements.
  • Learn industry standards, cable specifications, and installation best practices.
  • Travel to customer sites to provide installation support and technical assistance as needed.
  • Maintain tools, testing equipment, and field documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline OR
  • Associate Degree/Technical Diploma in Fiber Optics, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
  • 0 2 years of relevant experience (internships, co-op experience, or technical training are welcome).
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong willingness to learn new technologies and work in field environments.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to fiber optic installation or telecommunications projects.
  • Basic understanding of fiber optic cable construction and applications.
  • Familiarity with OTDR or fiber testing equipment (training provided).
  • Knowledge of cable installation practices.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather and field conditions.
  • Ability to travel frequently to customer locations.
