Our client is a well-established organization responsible for the operation and technology infrastructure of a large facility. This is a highly visible technology leadership opportunity within a complex operation that brings together multiple internal teams, business partners, vendors, and facility stakeholders.

We are seeking an experienced Director of Technology to oversee IT infrastructure, systems, networking, technical support, and technology operations for a large-scale, high-availability environment. This role is best suited for an IT leader with a strong foundation in infrastructure, networks, servers, systems, and technology operations. The Director will lead both IT and technical services teams while serving as a key technology partner to senior leadership and other groups operating within the facility.

The successful candidate will combine strategic leadership with enough technical depth to understand complex infrastructure environments, guide major technology initiatives, and step in as an escalation point when critical issues arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction for the organization’s IT infrastructure and technology operations.
  • Oversee enterprise networking, servers, systems, security, technical support, and related infrastructure.
  • Lead a team of IT and technical professionals while developing strong processes, accountability, and service standards.
  • Ensure technology systems remain reliable and available in an environment where downtime can significantly impact business and live-event operations.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery, business continuity, and technology-response plans.
  • Direct infrastructure upgrades, migrations, implementations, and other large technology initiatives.
  • Support technology planning associated with facility transitions, expansions, relocations, or new construction.
  • Manage third-party technology providers, contractors, consultants, and vendor relationships.
  • Partner with internal departments and outside organizations that share or interact with the facility’s technology environment.
  • Provide technical guidance and escalation support for complex infrastructure or operational issues.
  • Assist with technology budgeting, forecasting, purchasing, and long-term planning.
  • Coordinate technology needs surrounding major events and other business-critical activities.
  • Evaluate existing systems and recommend improvements that increase reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Progressive experience leading IT infrastructure, systems, or technology operations.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise networking and network infrastructure.
  • Experience overseeing server environments, systems administration, and related infrastructure technologies.
  • Previous experience managing technical employees and leading an IT function or team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Experience supporting complex, business-critical, or high-availability technology environments.
  • Ability to lead major IT projects, system implementations, migrations, and infrastructure transitions.
  • Strong vendor and contractor management experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and serve as an escalation point for technical teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with executives, technical employees, business leaders, vendors, and external partners.

Additional Details:

  • Experience with distributed antenna systems (DAS) is a plus.
  • Experience within convention centers, hospitality, entertainment, large facilities, or similarly complex environments is beneficial but not required.
  • Familiarity with audiovisual technology is helpful
  • Experience supporting technology during live events or outside traditional business hours is preferred.
  • Background managing technology associated with new construction, facility expansions, relocations, or major infrastructure upgrades is highly desirable.
  • Strong project management and technology budgeting experience is preferred.
  • This position will oversee approximately three IT professionals as well as an established AV/technical team.
  • Relocation assistance may be considered for the right candidate. Candidates considering relocation should be genuinely committed to establishing themselves in the Oklahoma City area.
  • The organization is actively interviewing and prepared to move forward once the right technology leader is identified.
  • Final candidates will participate in an onsite interview process that includes meetings with senior leadership and technology stakeholders.
  • Employment is subject to successful completion of required background and drug screening.
