Performs the following functions while operating the personal computer: Data entry of citations (CHP 215), traffic collisions (CHP 555), vehicle storages(CHP 180). Using the computer to order office supplies, business cards, complete credit memos, and other assigned tasks. Prepares the weekly transmittal, petty cash reimbursement request. Enter arrest reports and documents that are required by the District Attorney's office, prepare and send out admin per se documents, DUI cost recovery information.
Answer the phone for the uniformed and non-uniformed staff, taking telephone messages and transferring calls. Provide a wide variety of information to the calling public and news media using California Highway Patrol’s website on both the Intranet and the Internet systems. This information would include current road conditions, including upcoming inclement weather which would cause road closures or delays.
Processing the following CHP forms and reports: Citations (CHP 215) and overdue Notice to Correct (CHP 281) sent to Superior court with required teletypes. Copy and process Notice of Corrections (CHP 411). Record and process misdemeanor and felony reports (CHP 202 and CHP 216) to send to the district attorney’s office as required. Send out Vehicle Storage Reports (CHP 180) t o the registered owner and legal owner.
Process and sell accident reports. Transmit monies collected on transmittal record to fiscal management on a weekly basis.
Prepare, address, weigh and stamp outgoing mail. Deliver to post office daily. Incoming mail is to be date-stamped and routed to appropriate office staff. As back-up to the OSSI in their absence, some timekeeping will be performed.

The Office Assistant (Typing) (OA) is responsible for a variety of complex clerical duties for the Bridgeport staff. The OA assists in conducting day-to-day operations of the Bridgeport Area while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
