[About the Role]
Join a leading team in Sunnyvale, CA as a Scientist I - Chemistry and play a pivotal role in the Manufacturing Sciences group. You will be at the forefront of synthesizing functionalized resins critical for HPLC column production. This is a contract opportunity ideal for early-career chemists eager to develop hands-on expertise in polymer and analytical chemistry within a collaborative and innovation-driven environment.
[Responsibilities]
- Synthesize raw and functionalized resins for HPLC column production using established manufacturing protocols
- Execute standard polymer chemistry techniques including ATRP, grafting, and polymerizations
- Identify and address daily manufacturing issues, proposing actionable solutions
- Communicate production status and challenges clearly with cross-functional teams
- Present findings and results effectively to R&D, process development, and product management groups
- Collaborate on process improvement initiatives to enhance resin quality and yield
- Participate actively in 5S, JDI, and safety programs
[Required Skills and Experience]
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry
- Up to 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or laboratory setting
- Proficient in polymer and analytical chemistry techniques
- Familiarity with HPLC/UPLC systems and chromatography software
- Capable of performing routine analysis on resin size distribution and surface area
- Strong understanding of manufacturing protocols and chemistry principles
- Ability to interpret chromatograms using HPLC/UPLC, GC-MS
- Skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
[Preferred Skills]
- Experience generating and following quality control procedures compliant with ISO9001
- Direct experience in analytical chemistry
- Prior work in a chromatography-focused environment
