Job Description

Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants (CBC) | White Plains, NY

Join a team that values great clinical work, collaboration, and continued learning.

Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants (CBC) is looking for an experienced psychologist with a strong background in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to join our clinical team.

This is an opportunity to join an established, well-respected psychology practice where you can focus on providing excellent patient care, collaborate with experienced colleagues, and continue developing your clinical expertise.

Founded in 2004 by Alec Miller and Lata McGinn, CBC has built a reputation for its work in evidence-based psychological treatment, particularly DBT and CBT. Alec and Lata are internationally recognized psychologists who have dedicated their careers to advancing these treatments and training other professionals in their use.

At CBC, we believe clinicians do their best work when they have the opportunity to learn from one another, ask questions, share ideas, and feel supported by their colleagues. We are looking for someone who values that kind of environment and wants to contribute to a team that takes both its clinical work and its mission seriously.

About the Role

As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will provide evidence-based treatment, primarily working with patients receiving DBT, while also using CBT and other appropriate approaches.

You will join a team of clinicians who care deeply about their work and value collaboration. There are opportunities to exchange clinical perspectives, participate in case discussions, mentor developing clinicians, and contribute to CBC's broader work in training and education.

We want our psychologists to be able to focus on their patients without having to manage all the administrative demands of running a practice. CBC provides support with client acquisition, billing, and administrative operations so you can devote more time to clinical care.

Our primary location is in White Plains, with additional offices on Manhattan's Upper East Side and Upper West Side.

What You'll Do

  • Provide approximately 24 professional service units per week, including individual, family, couples, parenting, and group therapy, as appropriate to your clinical expertise.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using DBT, CBT, and other evidence-based approaches.

  • Conduct clinical assessments, make diagnoses, and monitor patient progress.

  • Consult and collaborate with colleagues to support thoughtful treatment planning and quality patient care.

  • Supervise and mentor graduate externs, interns, postdoctoral fellows, or junior clinicians, as appropriate.

  • Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions, and educational opportunities.

  • Contribute to CBC's training and consultation work based on your experience and interests.

What We're Looking For

  • A PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology or a related qualifying psychology discipline.

  • An active New York State psychologist license in good standing.

  • At least five years of clinical experience practicing DBT and CBT.

  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment skills.

  • A commitment to evidence-based care and ongoing professional development.

  • Strong communication skills and an interest in working collaboratively with other clinicians.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Formal DBT training and supervised experience delivering DBT.

  • At least two years of clinical supervision experience.

  • Experience working with a range of ages and presenting concerns.

  • An interest in teaching, mentoring, or contributing to professional training.

Just as important, we are looking for someone who enjoys working with other professionals, treats colleagues with respect, and wants to be part of a supportive clinical community.

What CBC Offers

We want our clinicians to have the support they need to do meaningful work and build a sustainable career.

Professional growth

  • Opportunities to learn from and collaborate with experienced clinicians and recognized leaders in DBT and CBT.

  • Three days (24 hours) annually for continuing education or conferences.

  • Access to professional development funding, subject to applicable guidelines.

  • Opportunities to supervise, teach, and contribute to clinical training.

Paid time off

  • 160 hours of annual vacation.

  • 16 hours of personal time off.

  • 40 hours of paid sick and safe leave.

  • Paid holidays, including a floating cultural holiday.

  • Bereavement leave and paid leave for jury duty and voting.

Health and financial benefits

  • Comprehensive insurance programs.

  • Long-term disability benefits and salary continuation.

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA).

  • Life insurance.

  • Retirement plan with an employer match of up to 3.5%.

  • Pre-tax commuter and parking benefits.

  • Voluntary pet insurance and legal benefits.

Additional benefits

  • Flexible hybrid opportunities, depending on clinical and practice needs.

  • Lactation accommodations for new parents.

  • An open-door approach to communication and a collaborative team environment.

  • Opportunities to take on additional responsibilities that align with your interests and experience.

Why CBC?

Joining CBC means becoming part of a practice with a longstanding commitment to evidence-based psychology. You will work with clinicians who value their profession, care about the people they serve, and recognize the importance of learning from one another.

Whether you enjoy discussing challenging cases with colleagues, mentoring the next generation of psychologists, or simply having a team you can turn to for input and support, we want CBC to be a place where you feel connected to your work and the people around you.

If you are an experienced psychologist looking for a practice where you can contribute your expertise, continue learning, and work alongside people who share your commitment to excellent patient care, we would love to hear from you.

We invite you to apply and learn more about joining CBC.

Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants is an equal opportunity employer committed to maintaining an inclusive and respectful workplace.
