Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing
You will work across the Semi-Independent Living and Independent Living Programs to assist with the client’s treatment team to create an individualized plan for successful transition to permanence and independence through building life skills specific to vocational training, Financial and educational goal attainment. The Life Skills Coach will provide before and after transition services and integration of behavioral health treatment in the community for successful independence whether in the Independent Living Program (ILP) reunification with family or aging out of the system. The Supportive Independent Living and Independent Living Programs work with youth ages 16-20 years of age.

Hybrid Role, 20% Remote Work. 

Your Main Priorities
While additional responsibilities are likely to arise on the job, you will primarily:
•    Facilitate individual and group life skills trainings, ensuring that trainings are tailored to meet the needs of each individual; develops and implements workshops, training, seminars on various life skills domains and update program curriculum as needed.
•    Assess client’s learning capabilities and problem-solving skills.
•    Apply relevant resources to designed curriculum to meet the client’s needs.
•    Build professional relationships with individuals within the client’s community (i.e., parents, police departments, Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF), schools, etc.)
•    Communicate with treatment team in support of each client’s self-sufficiency plan (i.e., employment, vocational and/or educational needs)
•    Work with agency team to prioritize and implement solutions to address clients with differing abilities.
•    Collaborate with outside workforce organizations and refers clients to community resources for job placement and career opportunities.
•    Cultivate a trauma-informed environment by understanding short/long term impacts of trauma and neglect, maintains trauma-sensitive language and approaches, and responds to clients and their families/caretakers with empathy, sensitivity, and confidentiality. 

Who You Are
Requirements, Skills & Abilities:
•       Associate degree in social work, Psychology, or related field required; bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, or related field preferred. 
•       Minimum 1 years’ experience in Human Services, housing services, and/or homeless services required; experience as a Life Coach preferred. 
•    State wide travel is required. 
•    Strong organizational, critical thinking and time-management skills.
•    Basic computer skills required; knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
•    Ability to communicate and effectively interact with a diverse population.
•    Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
•    Collaboration and teamwork. 
•    Must authorize Child & Family to complete a motor vehicle records check. 
•    Must have valid driver's license, auto insurance and car registration. 
•    The ideal candidate will be required to meet all background checks and medical clearances required for the position. 

Physical Requirements
Direct Service Staff:
This position requires time sitting, standing, walking, driving, carrying and lifting up to 25lbs. This role also requires operating desktop, laptop and/or cell phone, and communicating with colleagues.
